This is a 2 year part-time programme aimed at those who wish to gain employment as an early learning and childcare practitioner. This sector is expanding and demand for qualified early years staff is set to rise. This advanced level course provides participants with the necessary skills and knowledge required for a career in early learning and childcare. The course will provide the student with a wide knowledge of the factors which influence children's care and their learning and development. Participants will gain an understanding of the principles, values and legislation underpinning early years practice. Students will also engage in a day-time placement where they will undertake three SVQ units. Successful completion of this course provides the necessary qualifications for registration with the Scottish Social Services Council at practitioner level.

Care in Contemporary Society; Leadership Starts with Me; Health Wellbeing and Safeguarding; Lifespan Development Theoretical Approaches; Support for Play Learning and Development; Promoting Language, Literacy and Numeracy; Supporting Children and Young Peoples Behaviour; Working with Children 3-6
2 Highers including English plus 2 subjects at National 4 plus relevant work experience; or NC Early Education and Childcare plus relevant work experience; or other relevant national qualifications at SCQF Level 6. Interview. You will also be required to participate at an information session.
