Content

This introductory course equips students with the practical knowledge and skills required for further study or to gain employment in the travel and tourism industry.

The course covers subject areas that are important in all sectors of the Travel and Tourism Industry such as customer care, selling skills, employability skills, sustainable travel and tourism, and underpinning knowledge of the industry.

Also covered in the course are tour guiding, an introduction to the heritage industry in Scotland and marketing skills.

Travel and Tourism: An Introduction; Sustainable Travel and Tourism: An Introduction; Tourist Destinations; Enhancing Skills for Employment; Core Skills; Skills for Customer Care; Passenger Transport in the UK; Accommodation and Package Holidays; The Scottish Tourism Product; Selling Skills; Marketing in Travel and Tourism; Resort Representation: An Introduction; Tour Guiding: An Introduction.

Entry Requirements

3 relevant subjects at National 4, or relevant national qualifications at SCQF Level 4. Interview.

Applicants who do not meet this criteria, but have relevant work experience or alternative qualifications will be considered
