The first two years cover core elements of sport and physical activity, including:

Physical activity for health; Sport and physical activity psychology; Coaching and sports development; Physiology; Nutrition; Sociology in sport and physical activity; Research methods for sport and physical activity.

Year 3 and 4 offer more flexibility. Students will take three compulsory classes each year covering topics such as data analytics, research methods and placement, and professional development. Additionally students choose three optional classes covering topics such as physical activity for special populations, physical education in schools, nutrition and sports practice.

Entry Requirements

2026 entry requirements

Standard entry:
4 Highers at AAAB (first sitting) or 5 Highers at AAABB (two sittings) including English and Maths or a science subject.

Widening access entry:
4 Highers at ABBB or AABC including English or another English based subject and Maths or a science subject at B.

A Foundation Apprenticeship is accepted in place of a non-essential Higher.
