This NC Social Science course aims to offer you knowledge and understanding in several social science disciplines at SCQF Level 6, and is designed to prepare you for HNC level courses in the social sciences or other social subjects.
A range of topics will be covered, including gender, class and ethnic inequalities in education. Approaches and methods adopted by different psychologists will be discussed alongside the genetic and environmental aspects of behaviour.
Studying this course will enable you to develop an understanding of how different social scientists attempt to explain the world that surrounds us.
The course includes National 6 level units in a selection of Social Sciences. The range of subjects offered include the following:
Sociology; Psychology; Politics*; History; Modern Studies*; Communication; Criminology*; Geography*.

You will complete a minimum of one SQA Higher (external exam and coursework) in a social sciences subject.
4 subjects at National 5 at A or B including English and social subjects, or NC Social Science (Level 5). Interview.
HNC Social Sciences or other courses at SCQF Level 8.
