This course is designed for learners who wish to progress to HN study or employment.
It will develop knowledge and skills in the Humanities and Social Sciences, and is also suitable for school leavers who may wish to augment their Higher qualifications before embarking on university study.
This course is an introduction to the world of social sciences. You will learn about the society we live in, and what makes us into the people that we are. If you find yourself asking “Why?” as you watch the news or listen to politicians or see problems in society, then this course will be of interest for you.

The key elements of the course are shown, but learners can additionally tailor their programme in either Social Sciences or Celtic Studies.
Core skills (ICT, Core Maths, Communications and Literature); History; Sociology; Psychology; Politics.
3 relevant subjects at National 5 including English, or relevant national qualifications at SCQF Level 5.
Entry to Associate Degree Programme at Newbattle Abbey College, or HNC Social Sciences.
