Content

This a Next Gen HNC Social Sciences at SCQF 7. Most of the content may be delivered as live online sessions through Teams. Hybrid will be the delivery format on some occasions and other set days you may be asked to attend the college.

It is an exciting programme where you will learn about a range of social science disciplines. If you have an enquiring mind and enjoy lots of reading and research, then this may be the course for you. You will need to be objective, analytical and a problem solver, seeking answers to questions on why we behave the way we do. This will help you reflect on your study and skills, developing your meta-skills throughout the year. You will have the opportunity to study themes/topics and see how they interlink over all your subjects. For example, you may study poverty – and look at this from a historical, political, criminology and social perspective. You must be prepared to participate in debate and discussion as this will be an essential part of your learning.
