This degree programme in theology offers a broad and richly interdisciplinary study of Christianity and other religious traditions, engaging with key religious questions, beliefs, texts and actions of religious practitioners.

Year 1:
You will take theology courses in Christianity or other religious traditions. These courses will employ various methods and approaches, such as the study of history, philosophy, ethics, literature, and languages.

You may also take the Theology and Religious Studies Foundation Seminar course, which will equip you with the skills you need to succeed at university. You can also choose courses from other University subject areas.

Year 2:
As Year 1.

Year 3:
You will choose advanced courses from your area of interest. You have the option of graduating after the third year with an ordinary degree.

Year 4:
You will continue to choose subjects from your area of interest and will complete an honours dissertation on a subject of your choice.

Entry Requirements

2026 entry requirements

Standard entry:
4 Highers at ABBB (first sitting) or 4/5 Highers at AABB/ABBBB (two sittings) plus English at National 5 at C.

Widening access entry:
4 Highers at ABBB (by end of S6) plus English at National 5 at C. Highers at BBB must be achieved in one sitting.
