Immerse yourself in the engaging and diverse world of sport and exercise. Ranging from scientific support, coaching and service provision to duty of care and community development, our Sport and Exercise degree reflects an ever-evolving job market.
Translate theory into practice by exploring areas such as physiology, psychology and biomechanics. You’ll do practical work in our Human Performance Laboratory, Strength and Conditioning Suite and Motion Tracking Laboratory using equipment like the environmental chamber, force platform and 3D cameras.
Through built-in work placements you gain industry experience and explore social policy, sports coaching and development. This is a flexible degree, blending academic study alongside relevant industry experience, helping you to tailor your degree as your interests develop. Your studies are designed to dovetail neatly into your future employment plans.
For the first two years, everyone takes the same foundation in Sport and Exercise regardless of their final specialisation. At the end of your second year of study, you can either choose to remain on BSc (Hons) Sport and Exercise or switch to one of the other specialist degrees, including:
BSc (Hons) Sport and Exercise Science; BSc (Hons) Physical Activity and Health; BSc (Hons) Sports Development and Coaching; BSc (Hons) Strength and Conditioning.
2025 entry requirements
Standard entry: 4 Highers at BBBC including one from Maths, Biology, Chemistry, Physics or Physical Education plus English and Maths or Applications of Maths at National 5.
Widening access entry: 3 Highers at BBC including one from Maths, Biology, Chemistry, Physics or Physical Education at B plus English and Maths or Applications of Maths at National 5.
For entry to second year, you must have 3 Advanced Highers at ABB including Physical Education and Biology, Chemistry or Physics.
