NQ Healthcare (Level 6) will provide you with not only the theoretical knowledge and understanding of care practice but will also teach you a range of practical caring skills which you will be expected to demonstrate with service users during a work placement within the care sector. This placement introduces you to nursing and care professions with the practice placement area and provides you with valuable work experience.

Successful completion of this course may enable you to progress to employment within the sector or to further study on care-related courses.

Units include: Reablement and Self-Management - Practical Skills; Care: Human Development and Behaviour; Health Promotion; Care: Social Influences; Understanding Mental Health and Mental Illness; Care: Values and Principles; Numeracy; Practical Placement.

Entry Requirements

4 subjects at National 5 including English; or NQ Healthcare (Level 5); or other relevant national qualifications at SCQF Level 5. Entry subject to interview and pre-entry task.

You will require a satisfactory criminal record check from Disclosure Scotland to show that you are suitable for this type of course. Contact Disclosure Scotland for details on the type you would need.

Progression Routes

HNC Healthcare Practice, HNC Occupational Therapy Support or HNC Social Services, or Higher Education nursing programmes and allied health professions (additional Higher required).

Employment as a Health Care Support Worker in Health or Social Care setting.
