This course will teach you how to use research to explore and develop ideas, extend your drawing skills, and teach you how to develop a creative abstract process in your work. You will be challenged to work out with your comfort zone, as you are introduced to new and exciting ways of working. First term focuses on a broad range of skills, methods, and ways of working whilst term two will be driven by your art school application and developing your work through a personal project and lots of one-on-one teaching. Your third term focuses on the final project (graded unit) which challenges you to undertake a graded self-directed project and will appear on your certificate.

Key subjects covered by the course include:

Observational drawing, developmental drawing, and sketchbook work; Research skills, art in context ; Design process including research, development, and production; 3D design construction including sculpture; 2D processes including printmaking, mixed media, painting, and illustration; Digital artwork
Self-directed project work; Portfolio presentation including digital presentation; Preparation for interview; UCAS applications

Entry Requirements

2 Highers, preferably including English and Art and Design, or Advanced Portfolio Preparation Diploma Level 3 (UAL), or other relevant national qualifications at SCQF Level 6. Portfolio.
