Enhanced route:
This HNC provides the first year of Nursing training and/or be a stand-alone qualification that offers a range of possible progression routes to degrees or education for Professions Allied to Medicine.
The subject areas include Safe Working Practice for Care, Sociology and Health in Scotland, Clinical Skills for Care Practitioners and Understanding Personal and Professional Development.
Full-time placement work is allocated in 3 separate blocks throughout the academic year. An Edinburgh Napier University Student Nurse uniform and badge is provided for placement work.
Non-enhanced route:
The subject areas include Safe Working Practice for Care, Sociology and Health in Scotland, Clinical Skills for Care Practitioners and Understanding Personal and Professional Development. This option is available for progressing Borders College students, who have successfully completed 1 Higher.
The placement allocation is 15 hours per week. Students on the non-enhanced route are required to purchase their own uniform and badge for placement.
2 Highers including Biology (or Human Biology), or Foundation Apprenticeship Social Services and Healthcare or Social Services: Children and Young People plus Higher Biology. Interview.
All candidates must have good physical and mental health, with reasonable fitness. A medical examination will be required.
