The University of Glasgow is one of Scotland’s four ancient universities, founded in 1451 and the fourth oldest university in the English speaking world. It has three campuses:

The university offers a huge range of undergraduate courses and is a centre for excellence in many areas, from languages and cultural studies to engineering and biological sciences. The flexibility of the arts, social sciences and science degrees means that students can study several subjects before choosing an honours specialism at the end of their second year. Many Glasgow students have the opportunity to study part of their degree abroad.
The university has around 35,000 undergraduate and postgraduate students from more than 140 countries worldwide.
Facilities and Services
University facilities and services are extensive and include: two student unions, Glasgow University and Queen Margaret Unions; a 25 metre swimming pool; indoor and outdoor sporting facilities; a sports shop; accommodation services; various catering outlets; a careers service; counselling services; a student services enquiry team; over 50 sports clubs from American football to wakeboarding; an extensive library; and an IT helpdesk.
Ranking
In the Complete University Guide 2022 the university has 31 subjects in the top ten, with 5 ranked 1st in the UK in the university league tables as follows: Dentistry; Food Science; Social Policy; Sports Science; and Veterinary Nursing. It ranks 2nd for Nursing and 3rd for both Celtic Studies, and Manufacturing and Production.
The university has been named Scottish University of the Year in The Times & The Sunday Times Good University Guide 2022.
