This qualification covers the technical needs for today’s accident repair industry, including advanced body repair and alignment techniques and procedures.

It provides essential knowledge for the body repairer working on a wide range of vehicles in all types of garages, dealerships and specialist body repair shops.

The qualification is recognised by the Sector Skills Council as a VRQ/Technical Certificate and can be used as knowledge evidence in a related Modern Apprenticeship programme.

This programme involves studying both the underpinning knowledge and practical aspects of:

Removing, Replacing and Repairing Body Panels; Identifying and Rectifying Body Misalignment (Jig Work); MIG and MAG welding; MIG Brazing techniques; Resistance Spot Welding Operations; Understanding of Vehicle Construction and Materials.

Entry Requirements

Vehicle Body Repair (Level 5), or other relevant national qualifications at SCQF Level 5.

Progression Routes

HNC level qualification or Automotive Technician Accreditation (ATA) in a relevant skill area
