This course is designed to give you a well-rounded, up-to-date foundation in automotive engineering, and an industry recognised qualification. At the college's state-of-the-art engineering facilities, you’ll be trained by experienced lecturers in everything from steering and suspension to cutting-edge technologies in transport systems, getting the knowledge and hands-on skills you’ll need in any garage. This course is ideal if you don’t have access to study for an SVQ and will get you on the road to employment.

Health and safety in the workplace; Locating, interpreting and using technical information; Applying engineering techniques in an automotive environment; Knowledge relating to automotive foundation skills; Introduction to mobile automotive repair; Introduction to business enterprise; Health and safety practices in valeting and detailing environment; Tools, equipment and consumable materials used for valeting and detailing; Routine vehicle maintenance processes and procedures; Vehicle steering and suspension system components and maintenance (four wheels or more); Light vehicle braking systems components and maintenance; Light vehicle wheel and tyre construction and maintenance; Electrical foundation skills.
