Working in hairdressing is both exciting and challenging. It's part of a diverse and ever evolving industry which is continuously launching new products and techniques. Hairdressing professionals are at the heart of this, helping to create and maintain current trends. To be successful in this profession you'll need to be passionate, creative, committed and hardworking. You'll also need to be self-motivated, a good team player and enjoy working with people. If you're interested in taking the first steps on this exciting career path, this is the course for you.

Here's just some of what you may study:

Develop and build on skills in shampooing, blow-drying, styling and setting techniques; Develop and build on skills in colouring and lightening hair as you'll learn about colour products, how to mix and prepare products, apply evenly and remove; Develop and build on any existing skills to creatively style and curl the hair incorporating long hair work; Be introduced to cutting where you will learn how to use scissors correctly to carry out a variety of cuts using various cutting techniques.

Entry Requirements

4 subjects at National 4, or relevant national qualifications at SCQF Level 4.

Progression Routes

NC Hairdressing (Level 6) or other relevant course at SCQF Level 6.
