Year 1

Years 2 & 3
In the later years, you’ll take classes in fundamental inorganic, organic, biological and physical chemistry and laboratory work increases.
Year 4
In Year 4, the final year for BSc (Hons) students, you will take classes that develop the pedagogy of teaching. Alongside these classes, a major part of year 4 in The Strathclyde Institute of Education is school placements in Scottish secondary schools. There are 18 weeks of placement in total with one placement in each semester of the programme.
2027 entry requirements
Standard entry:
4 Highers at ABBB or AABC including English, Maths at B and Chemistry at B. Advanced Higher Maths and Chemistry recommended for sixth year entrants.
Widening access entry:
4 Highers at ABBC or BBBB including English, Maths at B and Chemistry at B. Advanced Higher Maths and Chemistry recommended for sixth year entrants.
Entry to year 2 may be possible with 3 Advanced Highers at ABB including Maths and Chemistry plus Higher English.
A Foundation Apprenticeship is accepted in place of a non-essential Higher.
