This course is designed to help you develop the skills required when starting a career in barbering. This means developing your understanding of the customer care and practical skills required to provide a range of barbering and male grooming services. The course includes an element of work experience and commercial salon work.
You will learn how to shampoo, blow dry, cut hair, including scissor/clipper work, and trimming and shaving facial hair.
There will be ongoing assessments which will include practical tasks, written tasks and portfolio development.
Units will include:
Shampooing and Conditioning Hair; Gents Haircutting; Clipper Cutting; Hairstyling; Male Grooming Techniques; Basic Shaving.
It may be necessary to attend a twilight class (4:30 until 6:30), one evening per week depending on timetabling requirements.
No formal entry requirements. Good communication skills and a keen interest in barbering/male grooming.
Applicants who meet the recruitment criteria will be provided with access to a barbering kit, appropriate protective clothing and textbooks.
