This course is a fantastic introduction to Make-up Artistry, designed to develop your creativity in both hair and make-up. It's an industry-led journey that enhances your practical skills and technical knowledge. Given the rapidly evolving nature of Make-up Artistry, we aim to keep the course up to date with the latest skills and knowledge required for a successful career. As such, some course content may evolve over time.

Here are some of the exciting topics you may explore:

basic principles of fashion and Instagram make-up; researching and creating your own 'looks' on models; bridal, evening, and editorial make-up techniques; shampooing, styling, dressing, and finishing hair, including designing looks for long hair and current fashion trends; introduction to making headdresses for the make-up industry; work experience in various venues to enhance your make-up and hair skills and build your industry network; participation in 'in-house' competitions, with the potential to compete nationally in Make-up Artistry competitions; and, development of transferable skills in meaningful contexts to enhance your effectiveness in life, learning, and work.

Entry Requirements

4 subjects at National 5, preferably including English and Art and Design, or relevant national qualifications at SCQF Level 5. You may be asked to provide samples of your artwork.
