This course will give you skills and knowledge to start your hairdressing journey. You'll be taught in our purpose-built hairdressing salons by industry-experienced staff. You'll provide basic services for clients and assist with more advanced services delivered to clients. This course will prepare you for progression to study SVQ level 2 Hairdressing or Barbering within the same academic year.
The course involves:
Shampooing and conditioning hair and scalp; Blow drying hair; Assisting with colour; Plaiting and twisting hair; Assisting with barbering skills; Setting and dressing hair; and, Basic cutting.
No formal entry requirements. Entry is subject to interview.
SVQ Barbering at SCQF Level 5 or SVQ Hairdressing Level 5.
