This course teaches you the basic skills and knowledge required to progress onto Level 2 Hairdressing or Level 2 Barbering. To kick start a career in hairdressing, this will allow you to grow in confidence and skill while working on model heads, and each other and progressing onto real clients.
You will study an introduction to the industry, Health and Safety, Shampoo and Condition Hair, The Art of dressing hair, Styling and Plaiting hair, Basic Haircutting, Temporary Hair Colouring and Salon Reception skills.
You will also explore social media and how to use this in the industry. This course is an ideal starting point for those with enthusiasm and motivation for hairdressing and who wish to follow this as a career.
Two National 4 qualifications or equivalent but not essential. Previous attainment of a Level 1 part-time qualification (SCQF 4) in Hairdressing, Barbering and or Beauty Therapy and/or relevant industry experience is desirable.
For applicants where English is not their first language then ESOL at Intermediate 2 is required as excellent communication skills are needed.
Selection is based on a group information session, skills test and an individual interview. A satisfactory reference may be required.
Further study onto a Level 2 Hairdressing or Barbering programme and/or gaining employment within a salon to develop your confidence and skills.
Opportunity to study MA SVQ Level 2 within industry to continue your studies.
