This full-time diploma course has been developed to provide a progression from the IMI Certificate in Vehicle Maintenance.

The course is structured around a selection of both knowledge and skill based practical motor vehicle engineering units together with a core skills programme involving communications, numeracy and information technology.

The learning programme involves the study of light vehicle construction and routine maintenance, operating principles of light vehicle engines, tyres, brakes, steering and suspension systems, transmission systems, electrical and electronic systems within structured practical workshop activities and classroom theory.

Entry Requirements

National 5 English, Maths and a science subject or relevant national qualifications at SCQF Level 5. You will attend an interview and advice session.

Progression Routes

The course provides opportunities for progression onto apprenticeships and to higher level full time programmes of study.
