A child’s educational experience is shaped by the adults who support and challenge them in their learning. Education Support Assistants can create a positive learning environment for all children. As an Education Support Assistant, you’ll have the opportunity to build a child’s self esteem, improve their quality of life, and be an agent of change in their schooling experience.

Subjects include:

Child Development; Supporting behaviour of children and young people; Supporting children and young people who require Additional Support for Learning; Working with children and young people with autism; Working in an education setting.

You will also have a work placement.

Entry Requirements

4 subjects at National 5; or Foundation Apprenticeship Social Services (Children and Young People). Participation at an information session, skills assessment and interview forms part of the selection criteria.

You will require a satisfactory criminal record check from Disclosure Scotland to show that you are suitable for this type of course. Contact Disclosure Scotland for details on the type you would need.
