Content

This course extends the skills and knowledge gained at Level 5/6, but is also suitable for direct entry. It incorporates an NPA in Exercise and Fitness Leadership.

You’ll spend some time in our fitness suites and sports facilities. However, there are also important theory and written elements, you’ll also be in the classroom a lot, as well as self-study.

Motivation and participation is essential. You’ll work alongside your peers, gaining confidence and developing leadership skills. You’ll be encouraged to extend your work and volunteering outwith college, to maximise your chances of networking and employment.

Units include: Planning and Delivery of Sport and Exercise Specific Coaching Sessions; Work Placement; Free Weight Training; Human Physiology in Performance and Performance Physiology; Planning Personal Fitness; Cardiovascular Training; Sports Coaching Theory and Practice; Nutrition for Fitness Health and Exercise.

Entry Requirements

1 Higher plus subjects at National 5; or NC Sport and Fitness (Level 5); or other relevant national qualifications at SCQF Level 5 or 6. Entry is subject to interview.

Progression Routes

Progression on to relevant HNC/HND such as HNC Coaching and Developing Sport, or employment.
