The course is designed for candidates to develop knowledge and skills essential for further study and/or a career in the sport and fitness industries.
The course supports a daily programme of sports and fitness activities working alongside Active Schools Programmes/Coordinators and incorporates SQA units at SCQF Level 6-7. A key element of this course is experiential learning on practical coaching / fitness placements, which are tailored, wherever possible, to meet individual career aspirations of the individual candidate.
The course also develops knowledge and skills in the following areas – Exercise and Fitness (NPA): Sports Science: Sports Performance. Students have the opportunity to gain additional qualifications such as: national governing body (SCUK/ NGB Awards) coaching qualifications and First Aid.
Relevant subjects at National 5 including English, Physical Education or a science subject. You should demonstrate skill in coaching and sport, relevant academic background and/or sufficient coaching experience. Successful short-listed applicants will be invited to interview where practical and academic ability, alongside an individual interview will be conducted.
