The BA (Hons) Gaelic and Education is a Gaelic-medium Initial Teacher Education programme delivered within the UHI Gaelic and Related Studies Scheme (GRSS). Students undertake Years 1 and 2 of the GRSS, with education seminars and 7 weeks of school placement. In Years 3 and 4, students undertake a combined programme of education and GRSS Modules including a further 18 weeks of school placements. The programme is designed for onsite delivery but distance learning may be possible in Years 3 and 4 with permission from the Head of Studies. In order to access school placements, distance learners in Years 3 and 4 must live within reach of schools offering Gaelic-medium education.

Entry Requirements

3 Highers at BBC including English and including GĂ idhlig (Fluent speakers) or Gaelic (Learners) at B plus Maths at National 5. You will be required to attend an interview to assess your Gaelic language skills, in order to place on the appropriate first year course.

You would require a satisfactory PVG (Protecting Vulnerable Groups) check to show you are suitable for this type of course. Contact Disclosure Scotland for details.
