If you’ve got a calling to teach then UWS’s BA Education will help you establish a career as a primary school teacher.

This degree is designed to equip you with the skills to work effectively within a primary school setting and will provide you with a broad-based education in contemporary subjects.

UWS’s BA Education also offers the flexibility of combining your studies in education with a specialism and provides valuable opportunities for school placement throughout each year of study – giving you the hands-on experience needed to complement your academic studies.

This degree provides a broad base in contemporary subjects and will provide you with the necessary skills to become an effective primary school teacher.

Flexible study options allow you to combine your studies in education with a specialism, including: Literacy; Mathematics; Health & Wellbeing; Science; Languages; and Inclusive Education.

As part of your studies, you’ll spend 30 weeks on integrated classroom placements so that you gain hands-on experience to complement your academic studies

Entry Requirements

2025 entry requirements:
Standard entry: 4 Highers at AAAB including English plus Maths at National 5 at B.

Widening access entry: 4 Highers at AABB including English plus Maths at National 5 at B.

Progression Routes

Employment opportunities for primary teaching graduates are good, with new graduates entering a guaranteed one-year post. This enables graduates to complete their one-year probation.
