The duties will change regularly depending on what work and projects are required within the service.
This job includes daily contact with patients, who require ongoing support while in Hospital, to be able to live their lives. This also requires daily contact with other members of our team and also ward staff.
Initially on admission patients are usually unwell and can be distressed. It is very rewarding to be able to support patients through these stressful periods and then work with them to enable them to return home. This includes patient being independent with tasks that they may have struggled with previously.
You will be delegated appropriate tasks by the Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists.
You will assist those professionals working under their supervision and guidance in undertaking clinical and non-clinical tasks. Our team also supports other therapy teams within the North Sector.
The post is physically demanding and also works to right timescales/deadlines therefore the need to complete the tasks within these deadlines is essential to supporting patient care.
Your duties will include, but are not limited to some or all of the following:
The first year of this post is based in the Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy Departments at Stobhill Hospital and the second year at Glasgow Royal Infirmary.
3 subjects at National 4 including English. You must be in possession of these qualifications before applying.
As well as meeting the academic criteria you must also demonstrate in your application that you demonstrate the ability to multi task, working alone as well as part of a wider team.
Good manual dexterity, interpersonal and communication skills are essential.
The most important personal qualities you will have is the ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, your patients and their families and a willingness to be flexible and to learn new skills.
