This course develops skills and knowledge for a career in hairdressing and the service industries. Learners will develop competence and efficiency in all aspects of hairdressing and the ability and confidence to meet the needs of the hairdressing industry


Students will be able to enhance their hairdressing skills by participating in a work placement one day per week.

Year 1:
Develop and maintain your effectiveness at work; Shampoo, condition and treat the hair and scalp; Style and finish hair; Set and dress hair; Work placement 1 day per week.

Year 2:
Advise and consult with clients; Colour and lighten hair; Cut hair using basic techniques; Plait and twist hair; College commercial salon; Work placement 1 day per week.

Entry Requirements

National 4 English. Applicants who do not meet this criteria, but have relevant experience or alternative qualifications will be considered. Applicants must be over 16. Interview.
