The BA (Hons) Gaelic degree looks at Gaelic society and its origins, whilst ensuring you achieve a high standard of fluency in the language. In year four, you will have the opportunity of an exchange with Irish or Canadian universities, allowing you to explore the wider international context to which Gaelic Scotland belongs.
The skills you acquire on the course will make you ideally placed to take advantage of the many new job opportunities appearing in the Gaelic world today. This programme balances investigation of historical aspects of language and culture, with an emphasis on contemporary material and issues which affect the Gaelic community. You will study the arts, contemporary and traditional literature, minority language issues and oral tradition, and explore the relationship of Gaelic to other languages, including Irish Gaelic.
3 Highers at BBC including Gaelic (Learners) or GĂ idhlig at B. You will attend for interview.
