Combining History with German will provide you with a truly unique understanding of the history and cultures of European and North American countries from the Middle Ages to the present. By the time you graduate, you will be able to communicate fluently and competently with German speakers. The study of a modern language can be the key to the global workplace.

Allows you to explore a wide range of historical topics, periods and places.

Gives you an understanding of what it means to be a historian, understanding history as a systematic and reflective discipline.

Helps you become proficient in German, reaching level C1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.

Entry Requirements

There are no formal qualifications required to study this degree. Computer and internet access required.

If you’re new to study or to the OU, it is recommended that you start with a course at Level 1.
