The HNC in Digital Design and Development (Games) is a practical, industry-focussed course centred on game design, game development and interactive experiences. It introduces learners to the creative and technical processes behind modern games, from early concept development and narrative design through to playable prototypes built using professional game engines. Throughout the course, students develop hands-on skills in games design, programming, animation, and digital production while gaining experience of working in team-based project environments that reflect current games industry practice.

You will study:
Computer Games Design and Development with Unity; Games Interface Design; User Centred Design; Designing, developing, and marketing interactive products; Character Creation and Storytelling; 2D Animation for Games; 3D Level Editing and Scripting with Unreal Engine; 3D Modelling and Animation with 3D Max / Maya; Developing Mobile Applications and Games in Unity; Emerging technologies in the games industry; Team working and project management.

Entry Requirements

1 relevant Higher plus 4 subjects at National 5 including English, or Advanced Certificate: Computer Games Design and Animation (Level 6), or other relevant national qualifications at SCQF Level 6. Interview.
