During the course candidates will undertake the following units:
Knowledge of Health, Safety and Good Housekeeping in the Automotive Environment; Skills in Health, Safety and Good Housekeeping in the Automotive Environment; Knowledge of Support for Job Roles in the Automotive Environment; Skills in Supporting Job Roles in the Automotive Environment; Knowledge of Materials, Fabrication, Tools and Measuring Devices used in the Automotive Environment; Skills in Materials, Fabrication, Tools and Measuring Devices used in the Automotive Environment; Knowledge of Diagnosis and Rectification of Vehicle Auxiliary Electrical Faults; Skills in Diagnosing and Rectifying Vehicle Auxiliary Electrical Faults; Knowledge of Diagnosis and Rectification of Light Vehicle Engine Faults; Skills in Diagnosing and Rectifying Light Vehicle Engine Faults; Knowledge of Diagnosis and Rectification of Light Vehicle Chassis Faults; Skills in Diagnosing and Rectifying Light Vehicle Chassis System Faults; Knowledge of Diagnosis and Rectification of Light Vehicle Transmission and Driveline Faults; Skills in Inspecting Light Vehicles Using Prescribed Methods.

Entry Requirements

Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair Principles (IMI) Diploma Level 2. National 4 English, Maths and a science subject preferred.

Progression Routes

This qualification may allow candidates to progress into Employment, a Modern Apprenticeship (College Day Release) or to HNC Automotive Engineering.
