This course is designed to develop a foundation in the knowledge and skills required for progression to more advanced levels of study in photography. It is also suitable for those who wish to prepare themselves for initial entry to employment within the photo-imaging sector. You will have opportunity to develop vocational and employability skills relevant for posts such as an assistant photographer or retail assistant.

This programme is designed to provide candidates with an opportunity to develop both creative and technical skills in a variety of traditional and current disciplines that relate to photography and other creative industries. The course is also intended to develop candidates’ levels of awareness and appreciation of the basic technical and creative practices used in a variety of subject specialist areas, together with experience of co-operative working, presentation, exhibition, and self-promotion skills.

The intention is to provide candidates with a broad foundation of basic photographic skills and experience. It is a practice-based programme of study that will develop candidates’ vocational skills, core skills and soft skills. It will also develop study skills relevant to successful articulation to Higher Education (HE) level study and/or employment at trainee level.

Entry Requirements

4 subjects at National 4 including English; or NQ Access to Creative Industries; or other relevant national qualifications at SCQF Level 5.
