If you have a desire to delve into the depths of computer games and investigate how they work, then this is the ideal course for you. You will need a flair for programming, maths, and solving complex problems. You should enjoy playing a variety of computer games and you may even have designed a few games of your own.

You will need great communication and team working skills and the determination to persevere until something works. The Computer Games industry is a target area for growth and needs intelligent, hardworking and innovative people to drive the future of gaming in Scotland.

You will study: Games programming; 2D animation for games; 3D level editing; Computing: planning; Team working in computing; Creating graphics; Programming a game for a mobile device; Game technology; Graded Unit 1; Digital Media: Audio; Programming fundamentals; Character creation and storytelling; Pitch a treatment.

Entry Requirements

Higher Maths, Computing Science, Graphic Communication or a science or technological subject plus 4 subjects at National 5 (Maths necessary at minimum of National 4), or Advanced Certificate: Computer Games Design and Animation (Level 6) plus National 4 Maths; or other relevant national qualifications at SCQF Level 6. Interview and pre-entry test.
