Access to Primary Education is a Scottish Wider Access Programme (SWAP), is intended for adults who have not been in formal education for at least 5 years.

Applicants who do not posses any formal qualifications may be considered for this course. Successful completion of the one-year programme guarantees a place on a relevant Higher Education Course at college or university. A place on a BEd Degree is not guaranteed.

Subjects include: Communication, Literature, Psychology, Sociology, Politics, Information Technology, Contemporary Issues, History and Maths.

Entry Requirements

This course is for mature students who have been out of education for at least 5 years and have little or no qualifications, or qualifications that are out of date. You will also need to show you have a realistic understanding of working with young children (not necessarily in a school setting).

For a place on the course you will need to attend an interview where you will be asked to submit a short piece of written work.
