The course provides sound practical experience in a wide range of landscaping skills together with the knowledge of construction principles and their application.
The course is comprised of the NC Horticulture with additional subjects selected and tailored to provide a more specialist skill set for those wanting to move into hard landscaping. It provides a sound practical experience in Horticulture and Landscaping together with a variety of construction skills and techniques.
You'll learn all about horticulture and soft landscaping alongside the specialist subjects of fence construction, paving, brick laying and surveying and setting out. The course also includes a work placement element designed to improve employability skills, allowing students to move into industry with more confidence. Positions within landscaping, garden design, estate management and local authority work are common destinations for graduates.
It is ideal for anyone with some industry experience, wishing to broaden their experience, or for those planning a career change.
Example modules include: Soils and Growing Media; Basic Botany; Plant husbandry and common disorders; Lawns and Lawn care; Plant identification; Soft Landscaping: General Plantings; Soft landscaping: trees and shrubs; Horticultural Machinery: Operations and Maintenance; Fence Construction; Brick Laying; Surveying and Setting Out; Paving; Construction Materials; Business Formation; Work Placement.
