The MA in Theology and Religious Studies at Aberdeen gives students a cutting-edge understanding of Christianity and the other major religious traditions of the world, including their historical development and contemporary importance. The degree also gives students the opportunity to explore a wide diversity of courses in the Arts and Social Sciences.

First Year: Introduction to Religions of the World 1; Introduction to Religions of the World 2.

Second Year: Sociological and Anthropological Theories of Religion; Psychological Theories of Religion; Islam; Buddhism.

Third Year and Fourth Year: Social Anthropology of Religions; Atheism; Critical Theories of Religion: The Frankfurt School; Quran; The Life of Muhammad; Understanding Confucianism; Reading Confucian and Daoist Sacred Texts; Understanding New Religious Movements.

Entry Requirements

2027 entry requirements

Standard entry:
4 Highers at BBBB plus English at National 5.

Entry to year 2 may be possible with Advanced Highers at AB.

Widening access entry:
2 Highers at BBC plus English at National 5.

1 Foundation Apprenticeship is accepted in place of a Higher.
