This course contains a varied mix of units, which are mainly project-based and practical, with a strong emphasis on the design process and sketchbook work. Working in computer studios kitted out with Macs running the latest industry standard software Adobe CC, you will learn InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop.

Year One:
Graphic Design; Digital Imaging; Typography; Introduction to Visual Communication; Art and Design Project; Art and Design Context; Leaflet and Magazine Design; Introduction to Web Design.

Year Two:
Digital Imaging Project; Client Initiated Design Project; Design Production; Magazine Design; Typography; Preparing a Professional Portfolio and CV; Creative Project for Artists and Designers; Graphic Design Project; Digital media project.

Entry Requirements

Higher Art and Design or Graphic Communication plus National 5 English, or NQ Foundation in Graphic Design and Illustration, or other relevant national qualifications at SCQF Level 6. Portfolio of art and design work. Conditional acceptances may be offered to applicants sitting Higher Art and Design.

Progression Routes

BA Hons Graphic Design at Glasgow Clyde College, 2nd or 3rd year entry to relevant degrees in Graphic Design, Web Design or Computer Animation etc. or employment in the graphic design industry.
