This course contains a varied mix of units, which are mainly project-based and practical, with a strong emphasis on the design process and sketchbook work. Working in computer studios kitted out with Macs running the latest industry standard software Adobe CC, you will learn InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop.

Year One:
Graphic design; Animation: An introduction; Digital imaging; Printmaking and producing print
DTP layout; Typography; Art and design context; Art and design project; Graded unit 1

Year Two:
Client initiated design project; Typography project; DTP layout (Editorial); 2D computer animation
Digital imaging project; Graphic design project; Preparing for a role in the field; Creative project; Graded unit 2

Entry Requirements

Higher Art and Design or Graphic Communication plus National 5 English, or NQ Foundation in Art and Design, or other relevant national qualifications at SCQF Level 6. Portfolio of art and design work. Conditional acceptances may be offered to applicants sitting Higher Art and Design.

Progression Routes

BA Hons Graphic Design at Glasgow Clyde College, 2nd or 3rd year entry to relevant degrees in Graphic Design, Web Design or Computer Animation etc. or employment in the graphic design industry.
