Ready for Volunteering is a one-year, full-time course designed to prepare learners for volunteering or employment across a range of community and charity settings. This engaging and supportive programme combines classroom learning with real-world volunteering experiences, helping students build confidence, develop life skills, and make a positive impact in their communities.
The course is open to learners progressing from within New College Lanarkshire, as well as individuals with Additional Support Needs who are ready to gain practical experience and grow in a welcoming, inclusive environment.
Through practical volunteering experiences and guided classroom sessions, you will:
Learn how to work effectively as part of a team and support others; Build strong communication and interpersonal skills; Develop confidence, independence, and problem-solving abilities; Gain an understanding of community organisations and charities; Learn about health and safety, equality, and inclusion in volunteering environments; Reflect on your strengths, achievements, and future goals.
You should be working at SCQF Level 2, or have completed a suitable introductory course at New College Lanarkshire (or equivalent experience), and have an interest in volunteering, helping others, or community work.
