This course is designed to support learners to develop the skills, confidence and experience needed to progress into further college study, training or employment. Through a supportive and practical learning environment, you will explore different subjects and career options while building essential life, study and employability skills.
As part of the programme, you will develop your creativity and technical ability through photography, learning new techniques and taking part in practical sessions, including visits around the castle grounds (weather permitting). Your work will be showcased in an end-of-year photography exhibition, giving you the opportunity to present your achievements to friends, family and the wider community.
To help you make informed decisions about your future, the course has strong links with Skills Development Scotland (SDS) and local employers. Guest speakers and visits provide insight into different industries and progression routes, supporting your transition into further learning or work.
You will also enhance your CV by applying skills gained during Assist with an Event to plan and deliver a charity fundraiser in the second semester. Activities such as a sponsored walk or car wash will help you develop teamwork, communication and organisational skills while supporting local charities and communities.
Candidates undertaking a level 4 NQ should possess Core Skills at SCQF level 3 on entry to the programme. Adult returners will have prior experience taken into consideration. Also based on a satisfactory interview and an ability to work at National 4 level.
A wide range of access courses including hospitality, care, health, construction and engineering, or other subjects.
