Skill Up is aimed at learners between 16-19 years. The course is designed to offer an opportunity to those young people who wish to prepare themselves for successful and sustainable study. It may be particularly relevant to young people who have been affected by disruption to learning, either impacting on their mental health or resulting in gaps in their learning. The course could also be relevant to ESOL learners with settled status.
It will enable you to develop the skills and confidence to become a successful student and make positive choices about your future.
The course includes an opportunity to complete a Bronze Duke of Edinburgh award and outdoor learning. Along with qualifications in Numeracy, ICT and Communications at Level 3 along with Personal Development awards.
Learners will be given opportunities to build confidence and help navigate the wider college environment prior to joining Next Steps 2 Learning or subject specific area.
There are no specific entry requirements, but you will be asked to come for an interview.
You must be able to travel independently or make your own arrangements for travel. You should be able to learn independently.
