DFN Project SEARCH is a business-led, one-year transition-to-employment programme designed specifically for young people with learning disabilities and autism. Based within Lanarkshire hospital sites, the programme provides immersive, real-world work experience combined with tailored education and employability training.

Students complete three 10-week work placements across different hospital departments, gaining a wide range of transferable, marketable skills. Alongside this, participants complete around 800 hours of skill development, supported by classroom-based learning focused on employability and independence.

Curriculum areas include:

Work Experience and Employability Skills; Communication and Teamwork; Interview Preparation; Personal Development and Confidence Building; Health and Safety in the Workplace; CV Development and Job Applications; Money Management.

Entry Requirements

There are no formal entry requirements — selection is based on an interview process.
Applications are made directly to the Faculty of Supported Learning at New College Lanarkshire.

Applicants must be 18 years old or over by the course start date.
Must live in the Lanarkshire area and be able to travel independently to the hospital site.
