This course is designed to develop you as a Children and Young People’s (CYP) Nurse providing holistic care in partnership with CYP and their families across a variety of healthcare and social settings. To support this, you will have an overview of health and wellbeing across the lifespan.

In years one and two you learn with your peers in the adult and mental health fields to develop core understanding and skills required to support the care of people across the lifespan. In year 3 you will develop your professional knowledge and understanding specific for CYP nursing, consolidating your learning from practice learning experiences. Completing this course will give you an academic and professional qualification with registration as a CYP nurse with the NMC.

Entry Requirements

2026 entry requirements:
Standard entry: 3 Highers at BCC, English and a science subject preferred plus English, Maths or Applications of Maths and a science subject at National 5 (if not held at Higher).

Widening access entry: 3 Highers at CCC, English and a science subject preferred plus English, Maths (or Applications of Maths) and a science subject at National 5 (if not held at Higher).

Applicants will be invited to attend a selection event. This will take the form of a tour of the facilities, an opportunity to meet academics and practitioners and an interview.

Acceptance to all Nursing and Midwifery courses is subject to a health and immunisation screening. You will require a satisfactory criminal record check from Disclosure Scotland to show that you are suitable for this type of course.
