The BSc nursing programme has been designed to prepare the future nurse for working within today’s health and social care services. This course equips you with the skills and knowledge to understand and respond to often complex challenges experienced by individuals which can impact on thoughts, emotions and behaviours.
You will learn how to work in partnership with individuals who experience long term health challenges to enable self-management and recovery. Mental health nurses work with individuals across the life-span with emphasis on supporting people to discover and realise their own potential. You will learn to use a strength-based approach while working with families, communities and individuals to promote resilience and support promotion of health and wellbeing and the prevention of ill-health.
2026 entry requirements:
Standard entry:
3 Highers at BCC, English and a science subject preferred plus English, Maths or Applications of Maths and a science subject at National 5 (if not held at Higher).
Widening access entry:
3 Highers at CCC, English and a science subject preferred plus English, Maths (or Applications of Maths) and a science subject at National 5 (if not held at Higher).
Applicants will be invited to attend a selection event. This will take the form of a tour of the facilities, an opportunity to meet academics and practitioners and an interview.
Acceptance to all Nursing and Midwifery courses is subject to a health and immunisation screening. You will require a satisfactory criminal record check from Disclosure Scotland to show that you are suitable for this type of course.
