HNC Healthcare Practice provides the necessary knowledge and skills to work in many health and allied health fields both in the NHS and in private or social care settings. During the course you will undertake a clinical placement within the NHS acute sector at Greater Glasgow and Clyde Health Board. During the course you will also gain fast-track access to the NHS nursing bank. The course will give you the skills to pursue a career at Senior Healthcare Support Worker Level or to progress to a variety of nursing or allied health undergraduate degree programmes at a range of Scottish universities.
The units you will cover on this course are:
Safe working practice for care; Therapeutic relationships; understanding behaviour; Sociology and health in Scotland; Professional standards for care practice; The human body in health and illness; Clinical skills for care practitioners; Understanding personal and professional development; Exploring mental health; Graded unit.
2 relevant Highers, preferably including English and a social science subject, or relevant Foundation Apprenticeship plus 1 relevant Higher, English preferred. National 5 Maths is also preferred. Or a relevant NC or NQ at SCQF level 6. Interview. Pre-entry test.

Year 1 of a relevant degree programme. This is a qualification that is recognised by the NHS so on completion you will be qualified to work at Senior Health Care Support Worker level.
