This course is a mixture of developing practical skills in the garage workshop and learning the theory you’ll need to work successfully in the motor industry.

We'll develop your skills for employment, such as working as part of a team and creating a CV to get you noticed.

You’ll cover all vehicle-related systems, including engines, emissions, exhausts, electrical, brakes, fuel, starting, steering and suspension. Be prepared to get your hands dirty as you remove wheels, fit components and perform routine maintenance on vehicles.

You’ll look at the effects of vehicles on the environment, including low carbon technologies.

You’ll learn about workshop safety and maintenance, vehicle construction, moving loads, using vehicle lifts and garage equipment.

Entry Requirements

3 subjects at National 3; or relevant national qualifications at SCQF Level 3. Entry subject to interview.
