You’ll study the craft of writing creative prose, poetry and screenplays under the guidance and support of widely published, award-winning writers including the internationally renowned novelist Alan Warner, poet and critic David Wheatley, short story writer Helen Lynch, writer and spoken word performer Shane Strachan, and filmmaker Alan Marcus.

Year 1: Acts of Reading; Controversial Classics; Rethinking Reading; Academic Writing for Language and Literature.

Year 2: Encounters with Shakespeare; The Tragedy of Knowledge; Power, Empire and Equality.

Year 3: Medieval/Renaissance; Romantic/Victorian; Contemporary/Modern; Creative Writing.

Year 4: Creative Writing Folio Dissertation.

Entry Requirements

2027 entry requirements:

Standard entry:
4 Highers at BBBB plus English at National 5.

For second year entry you would require 2 Advanced Highers at AB.

Widening access entry:
3 Highers at BBC plus English at National 5.

1 Foundation Apprenticeship is accepted in place of a Higher.
