Content

This course is intended to provide a progression route for those who wish to continue to study in the area of additional support needs (ASN). You will undertake a placement for two days per week between September and June to give you practical experience in working in this sector.

Successful completion of the course will also enable you to seek employment and register with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) at practitioner level. Visit the SSSC for more information about registration requirements.

You will study: ASN: principles of practice; ASN: theoretical approaches to learning; ASN: the effects on human development; ASN: workplace practice; ASN: graded unit 1; Other optional units.

Entry Requirements

2 Highers including English preferably at A or B; or Foundation Apprenticeship Social Services and Healthcare or Children and Young People plus Higher English at A or B; or relevant national qualifications at SCQF Level 6. Interview.

You will require a satisfactory criminal record check from Disclosure Scotland to show that you are suitable for this type of course. Contact Disclosure Scotland for details on the type you would need.
