Prepare for a rewarding career as a professional midwife with UWS’s BSc Midwifery.

This degree will give you the knowledge, skills, practical experience and confidence to become a professional midwife. As teaching on this degree is 50% work-based learning, you’ll be able to put the theory you learn in the classroom into practice in real-life clinical environments.

Entry Requirements

2025 entry requirements:
Standard entry:
4 Highers at AABB including English plus Maths or Applications of Maths at National 5.

Widening access entry:
4 Highers at BBBB including English plus Maths or Applications of Maths at National 5.

Alternative entry:
3 Highers at AAB (standard entry) or BBB (widening access entry) including English plus Maths or Applications of Maths at National 5 + UWS First Steps into Nursing module.

Progression Routes

Upon graduation, you will achieve registration as a Registered Midwife with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC).
