Edinburgh Campus
The first year of this HND develops a wide range of skills needed by practising designers, including communication with clients and other professionals and organising and managing design and construction projects.
In year 2, you'll have learned about all aspects of the design and construction of gardens, as well as the principles and history of garden design, and the context of design within society and environmental conditions.
You'll learn to prepare designs, plan construction details and implementing planting plans in a range of styles and for real clients.
As well as taking part in practical construction projects, visits to a range of landscapes are integral parts of the course.
Working as a team with your fellow students, you'll work on the design and construction of a show garden for a major gardening exhibition.
Example modules: Garden Design Practice; Landscape Design History; IT in Landscape Design and Management; Plants for Gardens: Specialised planting; Show Gardens.
2 Highers, preferably including Geography or a science subject plus English and Maths at National 5 or relevant national qualifications at SCQF Level 6.
